Evening Eclectica 2: "Sinners" Edition

Another Aux Cord Session with Creew is now in the books... this one was dedicated to one of the most prominent characters portrayed in "Sinners": Blues music, as expressed in the score and soundtrack. GOOD LAWD, it's so good! Had me groovin' back and forth in my seat in between jump scares. And the number one cameo that had me so emotional was Buddy Guy as an elderly Sammie Moore. One of our Bluesmen being included in this way, I gotta say, I was verklempt.

When I left the theatre, I immediately decided to scrap the playlist I had planned and rebuild it as a journey from present to past. I wanted to highlight the vestiges of Blues-infused rock today, Blue-infused grunge of the 90s, Blues-infused rock and roll of the 70s, Jimi Hendrix's exploration and elevation of Blues into rock, and lastly, rock and roll's origins.

MAKE THAT GUITAR SANG!!!

Our playlist for the evening:

  1. Sinners Soundtrack: “I Lied to You” (2:54 min)
  2. Zeal & Ardor: “Devil Is Fine” (3:11 min)
  3. The Blacktones: “The Key of Black” (6:08 min)
  4. Jackie Venson: “Rollin’ and Tumblin’” (2:52 min)
  5. Alice In Chains: “Real Thing” (4:05 min)
  6. Soundgarden: “Power Trip” (4:08 min)
